User Guide: How to Assemble a Network Cable

Space designed to assist people who aim to quickly and practically learn how to assemble a network cable for personal use.

LEARN ABOUT SOME TYPES OF NETWORK CABLE

Stability and Reliability

Network cables provide more stable and consistent connections, without the frequent interference that often occurs with wireless networks.

Higher Transmission Speed

It has the ability to support higher data transfer rates, making it ideal for online gaming, high-definition streaming, and transferring large files with extensive storage.

Security

Wired connections are more secure than Wi-Fi transmission because data signals do not propagate through the air, making it harder for unauthorized individuals to access the network.

LEARN ABOUT SOME TYPES OF NETWORK CABLE

Network cables are essential for data transmission in computer networks. Here are some of them

CAT5e (Category 5 Enhanced)

  • Maximum Speed: Up to 1 Gbps

  • Bandwidth: 100 MHz

  • Maximum Length: Up to 100 meters for 1 Gbps

  • Common Use: Home networks and small businesses with standard internet speeds

CAT6 (Category 6)

  • Maximum Speed: Up to 10 Gbps for short distances (up to 55 meters), 1 Gbps for up to 100 meters

  • Bandwidth: 250 MHz

  • Maximum Length: Up to 100 meters for 1 Gbps and up to 55 meters for 10 Gbps

  • Common Use: Business and residential networks with higher data demands, such as high-definition streaming

CAT6a (Category 6 Augmented)

  • Maximum Speed: 10 Gbps

  • Bandwidth: 500 MHz

  • Maximum Length: Up to 100 meters for 10 Gbps

  • Common Use: Business networks requiring high speed and stability

CAT7 (Category 7)

  • Maximum Speed: 10 Gbps

  • Bandwidth: 600 MHz

  • Maximum Length: Up to 100 meters

  • Common Use: Data centers and high-speed networks in businesses

What materials are needed to assemble a network cable?

To assemble a network cable, you need to gather some materials and tools to ensure the correct installation of the connectors for proper cable functionality.

Necessary Materials

Below is a list of materials and their functions for assembling a quality network cable.

Network Cable

Choose the type of cable according to your needs (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat7, etc.), depending on the speed and usage environment.

RJ-45 Connectors

These connectors are used to connect the network cable to devices. Ensure they are compatible with the cable category.

Crimping Tool

Used to secure the cable wires into the RJ-45 connector, ensuring a safe and firm connection.

Cable Tester (Optional but recommended)

Used to test if the cable was assembled correctly and is functioning by checking the continuity of all wires.

User Guide: How to Assemble a Network Cable

1- Take the network cable and remove the outer jacket using a cable stripper, exposing all the internal wires.

2- Unroll all the wires, separate them, and then organize them according to the T568A order shown in the image beside.

3- After organizing the wires, insert them into the RJ45 pass-through connector, pushing them through until the tips extend out of the other side of the connector.

4- With the tips on the other side of the connector, trim the excess using a cutting tool.

5- Once the wires are inside the connector, use a crimping tool and press firmly to secure the pins to the wires, ensuring a safe connection.

6- With the cable assembled, check the connection using a cable tester. If the wires are placed correctly, it will transmit internet.
